Real Estate seems to be in my family bloodline starting with my paternal grandparents and being handed on down from there. My father was, in my young years, a builder and some of what he built were houses. That was back when we lived in heart of Africa, where I was born. One of my earliest memories was of my Dad showing me how to lay parquet flooring and letting me play in an empty swimming pool they were still building. I thought he was incredible to know how to do these things, and he was. Then he took the family sailing for most of my childhood, and while I really loved seeing the world and taking our home along with us, I keenly felt the lack of roots. I wanted not to be transient and to actually belong to a community. It was one fine sailing day, when we were 250 miles out to sea, crossing the mouth of the Amazon River, that I decided I needed to be involved in property. I both wanted roots for myself and to be able to help others find theirs. Since then, the plan bloomed to not only bind myself to a community but to use real estate as a way to build wealth, control expenses and create comfort and security... again not only for myself but for my clients. I finally got the opportunity to get my real estate license in Columbus, Ohio in 2005 and became exposed to all strata of society. Columbus is one of the largest gay populations in the country and what I discovered is a love for the gay community and an empathy and new awareness of what 'comfort and security' can mean to a marginalized people. I think if there is one thing I miss about Columbus, it's the size of the gay community. It's just smaller here. I miss the vibrancy, the inherent 'job de vivre' and zest for life I would consistently experience in the gay culture. I also miss the inclusionary nature where all other divisions fall away. That's beautiful to me. So, while I myself am not gay, you are going to get an experienced, non-judgmental and competent Realtor with me, after all, love is love, right?
