Aurora, Illinois, is situated on the Fox River. With almost 200,000 people, Aurora is the largest suburb of Chicago and is usually considered a part of the Greater Chicago Area. For quite some time, Aurora was a smaller city focused on manufacturing, but during the 1960s, the city greatly expanded, and today, it still ranks in the top 50 fastest growing U.S. cities.
Called the “City of Lights” due to its early adoption of all-electric street lights, Aurora is split into three sections: The East Side, the West Side, and the Kane/DuPage County line. The city is known for some of its amazing architecture, steel houses, and casinos. Tourism is one of the city’s main economic industries, as are education and healthcare.
Aurora doesn’t have a particular gay neighborhood, but LGBT people live throughout the city. You’ll find some very nice homes and condos here. For those who decide to go with a condo, prices fall between $70,000 and $519,000. For single family homes, you’re looking at paying anywhere from 70,000 to $1.2 million.
