Wailea, Hawaii, is a small census-designated place (not a city or town) located on the island of Maui. It has a population of around 6,000 people and is home to the 1,500 acre Wailea Resort. While tourists may flock to the area, the residents of Wailea don’t feel overtaken. The area is ranked highly as one of the best residential private communities in the U.S., and many of the housing editions and condo complexes feature gated entries and extra security.
The Maui Meadows community is one of these protected areas. It’s situated on the Little Beach Makena, which is the city’s unofficial gay beach. It also happens to be fairly clothing-optional! You’ll find a lot of custom homes and luxury condos that offer amazing views of the ocean.
Of course, you’ll need to be ready to pay. The cheaper condos that aren’t necessarily ocean front property and still have a price tag of $600,000 or more. Those with incredible views can run $3 million or more. Single family homes are usually priced around the $1 million mark, but don’t expect to find very many of them for sale. Most people who move into Maui Meadows do so expecting to stay.
