People often don’t realize that Hollywood and West Hollywood are two different cities. West Hollywood, sometimes called WeHo, is situated west of Hollywood and south of Hollywood Hills. It’s a fairly small, dense area—it’s only 1.887 square miles in area but is home to almost 35,000 people. Many of those people are gay men: almost 41 percent identify as a gay of bisexual male.
Because it’s home to so many LGBT people, West Hollywood has no true gay district. The city was the first in the U.S. to have a city council made up primarily of LGBT people, and it often ranks on lists of top U.S. LGBT-friendly cities.
Condos in West Hollywood are priced from $300,000 to $2 million. Single family homes are more expensive. The cheapest is around $524,000. The most expensive are in the $5 million range.
