If you’re thinking of making a move to Pomona, you’ll find plenty about it to love! Pomona is a bright, airy, sunny city situated on the northeast outskirts of Los Angeles. It is a popular place as offering a bit more of a peaceful, laid-back feel than life in Los Angeles itself, while still offering close proximity to all that there is to see and do. Pomona is a wonderful place to live, full of friendly people, and a thriving, if smaller, LGBTQ community. It would truly make a great place to call home!
A Look at Pomona's History
Pomona was initially established in 1888 after irrigation was made possible in the area, which made it an ideal location for farming and agriculture. It was named after Pomona, the ancient Roman goddess of fruit, because it has its roots in citrus farming, and the smell of blossoming oranges often fills the air in the spring. In the 1980s, Pomona experienced a significant growth spurt, ensuring its place not just as an outlier of Los Angeles, but as a vibrant and unique city in its own right. Today, it's an area known for its friendly people, its beautiful churches (more than 120 in Pomona alone, in fact, representing a wide variety of religions), its thriving arts scene, and its rich diversity.
