Rising home prices are allowing more home owners to see equity again in their homes.

According to the latest figures from CoreLogic, the following states have the highest percentage of homes in the country with positive equity:

  • North Dakota (94.4% of homes have positive equity)
  • Montana (92.8%)
  • Maine (92.1%)
  • New York (91.7%)
  • Alaska (91.6%)

Of the largest metro areas, Nassau-Suffolk, N.Y., had the highest percentage of homes in a positive equity at 90.1 percent, according to CoreLogic. Other metros with some of the highest percentages of home owners with equity also included: Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown, Texas (90%), Dallas-Plano-Irving, Texas (89.6%), Philadelphia (89.4%), and New York-White Plains-Wayne, N.Y.-N.J. (88.1%).

Meanwhile, Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Fla., was the metro with the highest percentage of underwater home owners at 44.1 percent.
